About Us

The Long White Lunch has become a hugely successful biennial event hosted in Cumnock, NSW. This event showcases our region’s incredible local produce: food, wine, beer and cider, while raising funds for local community projects.

History…

Our event began with a discussion about raising funds to update facilities at the Cumnock Showground. Following this discussion, our amazing committee was formed. At our first meeting it was decided to organise a Long White Lunch in conjunction with Orange F.O.O.D Week. From this day the planning began…seeking sponsorship, auction items, sourcing local food, wine, beer and cider suppliers, marketing our new event and promoting our wonderful community.

After a year of meticulous planning, we held our first ever Long White Lunch on Saturday 1 April 2017. We hosted a sell-out crowd of 420 guests who joined us for lunch wearing their whites on a glorious autumn day at the Cumnock Showground.

Buses transported guests from Dubbo, Yeoval, Orange and Molong, with many people from all over NSW travelling to Cumnock for our inaugural event.

As a small and vibrant committee, we were absolutely overwhelmed with the support we received and thrilled with how successful our first event was. This fuelled our motivation to begin organising our second event which was held on Saturday 7 April 2018 - this time with a sell-out crowd of 500 guests dressed in white!

Our first two events raised substantial funds for the Cumnock Show Society which have been used to upgrade community facilities at the Cumnock Showground. This was made possible by the kind-hearted support and interest from the local community and our many generous sponsors.

The Long White Lunch, Cumnock has now become an incorporated not-for-profit organisation and will hopefully continue as a regular biennial event for the Cumnock region.

Our third event was to be held on Saturday 28 March 2020. The funds raised from this event were to go to the Cumnock Public School P&C Committee to support their master landscaping plan to build a sustainable, eco-friendly, drought tolerant outdoor learning environment for the local community to enjoy. Unfortunately due to Covid-19, our event was cancelled.

In 2023, we returned with a bigger goal and renewed passion. Instead of supporting a single group, we wanted the event’s funds to benefit the whole community. With the local General Store on the market for over two years, the idea to buy it as a community took hold. It was a clear choice — a project that would serve everyone and help secure Cumnock’s future. With thanks to our community and sponsor our 2023 event was astounding!

Now we are back for another round, with the date set for the 28th March 2026.
